Then half a year later, I just suddenly felt like watching episode 3 and it was good, and watched up to the finale in one go.
Well, if you feel like it, I recommend that you try watching it again.

I just get this impression that it unnecessarily shuffles the timeline, and is just popular because of its atmosphere.

The first few episodes were really boring.
I didn't understand it.
でも観ていく内に散りばめられた場面が点と線で繋がって、一つの物語を形成し始めた頃にはスッカリこのアニメの虜になってたな
これからバッカーノ観る人はその予備知識があれば最初から面白く観れるかもね
I also didn't know that the timeline was messed up in that one so I also thought "What is this?" at first.
But as I kept watching it, the scattered scenes got connected and when the story was finally taking shape, before I knew it, I was a prisoner of this anime. I guess the people who are still about to watch it should know this first, and maybe they'll be able to enjoy it from the start.
It's been mentioned numerous times, but Hikaru no Go is seriously good

Code Geass for me~
The story is really solid, and once you watch it, you can't wait to see what'll happen next. I think it's an anime that will keep you on the edge of your seat. At least that's how it is for me personally.
Then there's Higashi no Eden and Death Note that's kinda similar to Code Geass.
And other personal recommendations, Bokurano and Bounen no Xamdou.
